Micronutrients and Kyäni's Triangle of Wellness - Croatia

Micronutrients and Kyäni’s Triangle of Wellness

A few weeks ago, we discussed what macronutrients are, and how they relate to Kyäni’s Protein Nutritional Products. Delving further into this theme, this time we are highlighting micronutrients and the Triangle of Wellness.

This article is divided into two parts; the second part will be available in two weeks, so keep a lookout for the second part in your inbox!

Complementing macronutrients, micronutrients are substances that are needed by the body in smaller quantities. These micronutrients consist of vitamins (both water and fat-soluble) and minerals.

Vitamins are organic compounds created by plants and animals (even humans). Minerals, on the other hand, are inorganic compounds, and as the term suggests, they are found in soil and water.

So when you consume a carrot, the vitamins that you absorb are created by the plant, whereas the minerals from the carrot were absorbed from the land and the water that it used to nourish itself.

Authorised Health Claims

Micronutrients (and, to some extent, macronutrients) have a wide array of documented benefits to our bodies, and different studies are done to determine what a particular nutrient can (and can’t) do for our bodies. Given the number of studies with varying and sometimes contradicting results, in the European Union businesses are advised to only use Authorised Health Claims for each nutrient which have been scrutinised and analysed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

These claims have been compiled by the European Commission and used by Kyäni to ensure that we communicate within the limits of the law. The commission stresses that it is the nutrients itself that provide the benefit and not the product as a whole. This ensures that when we communicate about our products we are educating our Customers. This will be clearer later.

Fat-soluble vitamins

There are only a few vitamins that are classified as fat-soluble vitamins, which are Vitamins A, D, E, and K. As the name indicates, these vitamins do not dissolve in water.

As mentioned in the previous article, fat helps deliver these vitamins to our body as they dissolve in it. These vitamins are then stored within our liver and fatty tissues for when the body needs them.

Sunset is packed with fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and E and is best consumed with your evening meal for efficient absorption of these nutrients into your body.

Here are some of the benefits we can derive in the nutrients found in Kyäni Sunset.

Vitamin A – contributes to the normal function of the immune system, contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.

Vitamin D – contributes to normal absorption/utilization of calcium and phosphorus, contributes to normal blood calcium levels, contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function.

Vitamin E – contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

In the second part, we will continue discussing water-soluble vitamins, minerals, and how everything ties together. So stay tuned!
