Let’s explore the primary sweeteners used in Kyäni products and how each is selected for a specific purpose.
Sweeteners tend to get a bit of less-than-sweet press, but in reality, sugar is essential for the human body to produce energy. Because not all sugars are created equal, we want to shed light on some healthier options that hit that perfect mix of function and flavor:
Kyäni uses three main sweeteners: monk fruit, stevia, and organic cane sugar. No matter which sweetener is in your favorite products, be assured that we are committed to delivering only the healthiest, most efficacious ingredients. That’s why we carefully select each sweetener and ensure it is included in recommended amounts to help you experience the intended benefits and achieve your health goals.
MONK FRUIT
Monk fruit is a small round fruit that is native to southeast Asia and named after the monks who first cultivated it. A member of the gourd family, monk fruit, or lo han guo, has been used for hundreds of years and has become increasingly popular in recent years as an alternative to processed sugars.
Monk fruit contains natural sugars like fructose and glucose, contains no calories, and does not impact blood sugar levels. It is also more easily digested by the body.
Kyäni Products and Monk Fruit
Monk fruit was specially chosen as a sweetener for Kyäni FIT20®. With no calories and more than 150 times as sweet as sugar, monk fruit makes a great addition to this protein-powered shake.Monk Fruit is also found in Kyäni Sunrise®!
STEVIA
As its name implies, stevia is derived from the leaves of the stevia plant native to South America and is in the same family as sunflowers. This natural sweetener has been used for centuries and has antioxidant properties that may support a healthy inflammatory response.
Stevia is over 200 times sweeter than natural sugar and contains zero calories. As with most sweeteners, experts recommend consuming stevia in moderation.
Kyäni Products and Stevia
Thanks to its many benefits and low-calorie index, we use stevia leaf extract as the sweetener of choice in several Kyäni products, including the on-the-go collagen-packed Kyäni HL5®, superfood-powered Kyäni Sunrise®, energy-promoting Kyäni ON®, plant-powered Kyani Origin™, workout-fueling FIT20®, electrolyte-amping Electro®, and nitric-oxide-enhancing Nitro Xtreme®.
ORGANIC CANE SUGAR
This common sugar is one you’ve certainly heard about. This sweetener often gets a bad rap, but it actually has several benefits. Organic cane sugar comes from organic sugar cane plants; however, it is much less processed than ordinary, bleached sugar, allowing it to retain many of its nutrients.
Kyäni Products and Organic Cane Sugar
There are times when the real thing is what we need. We use organic cane sugar to sweeten two Kyäni products: Kyäni Electro™ and Kyäni Origin™, giving both their subtle, natural sweetness Kyäni customers have come to love.
Kyäni Electro contains 2 grams of organic cane sugar, delivering a refreshing, but not over-the-top sweetness with only 10 calories that also acts as a catalyst to help your body absorb the electrolyte minerals. Kyäni Origin™is lightly sweetened with 5 grams of organic cane sugar to deliver a delicious flavor while maintaining the proper macro balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates.
