We caught up with Amy VanDenHeuvel to ask some of our burning questions!
What was your life like prior to Kyäni?
Before Kyani, I was the most unhealthy person you would have ever met. I was the person who would go on crash diet after crash diet. I didn’t know how to properly feed my body, I was sluggish, and had little to no energy.
What made you decide to commit to Kyäni products?
I noticed a difference in how I felt after just 5 days of using the products. I couldn’t believe the energy I was feeling. I knew that if I could feel this good in just 5 days, then taking them for long-term was going to have a major positive impact on my life.
What was the 90-Day Healthy Living Challenge experience like for you?
HARD! Well let me start out by saying – I tried the 90-Day Healthy Living Challenge in January of this year and I failed. I just wasn’t mentally prepared to put in the work I needed to to get to my goal. In June, when I made the commitment, I knew it was now or I would never do it. The first month was super hard! I struggled, I wanted to slip back into my old eating habits, not exercise, and just be lazy but I knew I couldn’t. When I started I told myself to just walk – get out and walk. You don’t have to lift weights, go super hard, but I needed you to walk everyday. When I started, I would struggle to even make it a mile, but soon I was up to 1.5 miles, then 2 miles, and then before I knew it I was walking 4 miles. Walking soon became my ME TIME. The time I would throw my headphones in, block out the world, and just work on me. This time helped me both mentally and physically. As I started dropping pounds, I decided it was time for me to get back into hiking – something I had loved in the past, but could not fathom doing at the weight I was. Hiking became our family activity on Sundays. We started out with 1 mile hikes, and before the summer was out, we were hiking 5 miles every Sunday. My 9 and 10 year old thought this was the best thing ever and would always ask what our next adventure would be.
What are your best tips and tricks for success during the 90-Day Healthy Living Challenge?
My biggest tip…go easy on yourself! We all have bad days.
I love the HL5 for cravings. I take it in the mid-afternoon and it keeps the afternoon munchies away.
I also give myself 1 meal a week where I eat whatever I want and don’t count the calories. It’s all about balance.
Lastly, I had to change my mindset from “I am on a diet” to “I am making a lifestyle change” because that is what this is! I don’t ever want to be that heavy again.
What did you learn about yourself during the 90-Day Healthy Living Challenge?
I learned that I have more determination than I thought I did and I can do hard things! I also learned that my mind is my own worst enemy! lol!
How has your life changed since the 90-Day Healthy Living Challenge?
I can keep up with my kids again! Before the 90-Day Healthy Living Challenge, I would lay around and not want to do much… I had no energy, my house was always a mess, heck even tying my own shoes at one point had me out of breath! Now, I am way more active and I make my health and fitness a priority – something I think most moms forget to do!
How do you plan to continue on your Healthy Living journey?
I enrolled in the next 90-Day Healthy Living Challenge because I love the accountability that comes with it. I am now down just over 40 lbs (lost another 10+ from the end of the last challenge), I am still walking on nice days but I have also added in more strength workouts to start building muscle, and I am excited to see what the next 90 days hold for me!
