Toñita Méndez López: First Nurse In Her Community

“Save one life, you’re a hero. Save 100 lives, you’re a nurse.”

These are the words that motivated Kulaktik, Tenejapa, Chiapas born Toñita Méndez López to strive for her dream of becoming her community’s first nurse.

Toñita is the oldest of seven siblings in a community of fewer than 1,000 people.

Access to standardized education in this area of Chiapas is extremely limited. Three years ago Toñita received a full scholarship from the Kyäni Caring Hands University Program to work toward her goal of becoming a nurse.

Toñita has the support of her entire community of Kulaktik alongside the support of the global Kyäni community.

We are so deeply proud of Toñita accomplishments and will continue to encourage her to achieve her dreams! Congratulations, Toñita!!
