Wild Alaskan Blueberry 101

It’s well known that oranges are a great source of vitamin C, strawberries are good for fiber, and bananas have an abundance of potassium. But did you know that blueberries are known as the king of antioxidant fruits?  Blueberries are available year-round and are easy to incorporate into a healthy eating regimen by putting them in cereal, on top of plain yogurt, in oatmeal, in baked goods, just eating them plain, or enjoying them in your morning Kyäni Sunrise (wink, wink).

Researchers have found that blueberries contain many health-promoting properties, including high levels of antioxidants. A study conducted by the US Department of Agriculture determined that blueberries have the highest total antioxidant capacity per serving when compared to 24 varieties of fresh fruits, 23 vegetables, 16 herbs and spices, 10 different nuts, and 4 dried fruits.

Blueberries are an excellent source of flavonoids, which can provide us with a wide range of positive benefits, including improving your mood. In one recent study, two groups of young people were tested on their mood using the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule. One group was then given a flavonoid-rich blueberry beverage, while the other group had a matched placebo. Two hours later their mood was reassessed. Those who were given the blueberry drink had an increased positive affect, compared to those who had the placebo.

So you get it, right? Blueberries are the bomb! But what is so special about Wild Alaskan Blueberries?

Well, due to the harsh growing conditions of Alaska, Wild Alaskan Blueberries have EVEN HIGHER nutritional values than common blueberries. Wild Alaskan Blueberries thrive in harsh northern environments and produce powerful anthocyanins to protect it from the damage caused by exposure to the sun. Studies have shown that due to these factors, Wild Alaskan Blueberries can have up to 10 times higher antioxidant levels than the common blueberry.

As you are likely guessing by now, our very own Kyäni Sunrise is set apart from other superfood products because it is based on the antioxidant power of the Wild Alaskan Blueberry! In addition to this superpowered blueberry, we have added a wide variety of other superfoods, including extracts from Acai, ginseng, kale, and others. This full spectrum of antioxidants from superfoods is then combined with more than 60 essential trace minerals that act as essential enzymatic co-factors, and the resulting water-soluble formula is perfect for taking in the morning, when the body can best absorb it. Kyäni Sunrise also contains no preservatives, a new source of Vitamin B12-Methylcobalamin, no folic acid, and reduced sugar (6g).
